About 70% of Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check results are available immediately because no potential match is found. Conversely, the application is manually processed if a possible match is found. This is true for about 30% of applications, which can take longer than 15 days.

A Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check provides information on an applicant's disclosable criminal history up until the point at which the Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check is conducted. Consequently, the employer determines the validity period of the check result.
